Accessibility is one of the most essential considerations in architecture. We want to ensure that the facilities we work on are accessible to people of all abilities. This may mean including ramps and broader corridors and restroom modifications. In addition, tactile elements should be included for the visually impaired, such as braille elevator buttons and signage. Each facility will have different needs, just like the people it serves. We are here to help meet those needs.
Life Safety is about protecting the most essential assets in your building: the people. We ensure your facility is compliant with all safety rules, regulations, requirements, and recommendations. Our goal in this is to be as safe and compliant as possible for the people who work and do business in it every day. For example, we can upgrade your sprinkler systems and fire alarms. We can perform a code review for your fire extinguishers. We can evaluate your facility for slip/fall/trip hazards and make recommendations for remediations.
Services Provided: Site selection, site plan review, programming, fitment, and schematic plans, design/build fast track build out, life safety and code review compliance, construction documents, alteration and renovation drawings, and Certificate of Occupancy implementation.
The Challenge: These facilities require a multitude of project types ranging from new facilities, additions, maintenance, replacements, upgrades, program change, life safety and retrofit, and forensic investigation and repair. This includes not only building elements, but site improvements as well including physical education and athletic facilities.
The Solution: A dedicated consistent team of staff familiar with the facilities and special requirements is maintained and cultivated to deliver the type of services and procedures the school district expects. Personnel familiar with the district are also able to relay history and experiences to the Building Officials and Fire Marshall to develop an inclusive solution with enforcement and Facility Planning Staff. Our relationship with SPPS has existed since the late 1960’s.
